The Bracknell we know today is a result of the 1949 New Towns Act, which resulted in large amounts of new housing and business accommodation being built to expand the town and provide homes to emigrants from London. Bracknell has since become a major commuter and commercial location in its own right.
Several large companies have or have had their UK headquarters in the town - including BMW, 3M, Racal and the Met Office (prior to their move to Exeter). The town's population of nearly 110,000 are housed in a number of well-defined neighbourhoods - the result of careful planning when Bracknell was expanded as a new town. Today, Bracknell continues to expand and its town centre has undergone some regeneration to help meet the demands of today's growth, which far exceed that originally envisaged by the new town plan.
Despite its good transport connections, Bracknell is actually in the heart of rural Berkshire and sits on the edge of Crowthorne and Swinley Woods. It is close to the nearby villages of Binfield, Winkfield and Warfield and the town is itself built on the site of the former village of Easthampstead. Bracknell is also close to the horse racing town of Ascot.
As you would expect from such a large, busy town, van hire in Bracknell is not a problem - there are plenty of local van rental companies offering a wide choice of hire vans:
