The Republic of Ireland's second city (after Dublin, the capital), Cork is home to more than 120,000 people and is one of Ireland's main industrial centres and deep-sea ports. Cork's origins, however, are far more modest - it started out as the location of a monastery in the sixth century. In the ninth century, Cork was settled by Vikings and became an important port and trading centre.

Today, Cork is home to the European headquarters of several major international companies and is also a European manufacturing base for a number of technology and pharmaceutical companies.

As befits a historical city, Cork also has a number of notable old buildings, such as St Finbarre's Cathedral (named after the founder of the original monastic settlement at Cork) and Cork City Hall, a limestone building built in the 1930s.

Cork's considerable industrial, commercial and residential districts mean that there is a steady demand for van rental in and around the city. This demand is met by a number of local and national companies, which provide a comprehensive range of van types for hire:

  • Medium / short wheelbase vans - e.g. Ford Transit, Vauxhall Vivaro, Renault Trafic, Volkswagen Transporter
  • Small vans - e.g. Vauxhall Combo, Ford Transit Connect, VW Caddy
  • Large / long wheelbase vans - e.g. Mercedes Sprinter XLWB, Ford Transit LWB, Renault Master, LDV Maxus
  • Luton vans & box vans (3.5 tonne / 3.5t).
