Derry City Airport, or the City of Derry Airport, as it is formally known, is located just to the east of Derry. It’s a small airport that handles mostly domestic (UK) routes.
Derry City Airport handles nearly 450,000 passengers each year, mostly travelling on routes to mainland UK destinations. The airport is located close to the village of Eglinton, giving rise to its original name, Londonderry Eglinton Airport.
There were more than 5,800 aircraft movements at Derry Airport in 2008, mostly scheduled services to mainland UK destinations but also charter flights to popular holiday destinations such as Majorca and Barcelona.
