Situated at the confluence of the River Avon and the River Severn, Tewkesbury is a popular market town in the county of Gloucestershire. Tewkesbury is known for the many Tudor buildings in its town centre, and also for its impressive Norman Abbey. Tewkesbury also claims to have the oldest public house in Gloucestershire, the Black Bear, which dates from 1308.
Other architectural attractions in the area include the Royal Hop Pole Hotel, which was mentioned in the Charles Dickens novel, Pickwick Papers. The town has many historical buildings without names, however, and a stroll around the town will reward you with a superb selection of historic architecture.
