Warrington is a large town in Cheshire. Situated just to the south-west of Manchester, it is a large conurbation in its own right and is home to almost 200,000 people, known as Warringtonians.

The town expanded massively during the Industrial Revolution and because of this development, the West Coast Mainline railway route passes through Warrington, providing excellent rail connections. Warrington is also located close to three important motorways - the M62, M6 and M56.

Warrington's is situated on the banks of the River Mersey and the area has been settled since Roman times. Consequently, the town has a number of old buildings that are of interest to visitors, including the Town Hall, a Grade I listed building formerly known as Bank Hall. Warrington Town Hall was originally built as a private residence for Thomas Patten in 1750 and was sold to Warrington Borough Council in 1870.

Another construction of interest to transport enthusiasts is the Warrington Transporter Bridge. Built in 1915, the bridge is a Scheduled Ancient Monument, although it has been out of use since 1964 and is currently in quite poor condition.

Last but not least, Warrington has the questionable distinction of being home to the UK's first IKEA superstore, which opened in 1987.

Anyone needing van hire in Warrington will be well served, with a range of local rental companies providing a comprehensive range of hire vans:
